California Title 24 Energy Code

California Title 24 Energy Code, also called "The Energy Efficiency Standards for Residential and Nonresidential Buildings", was created by the California Building Standards Commission in 1978 in response to a legislative mandate to reduce California's energy consumption. Through this code, California has been one of the worldwide leaders in pushing energy efficiency standards. The energy code extends to all aspects of the building from lighting to HVAC with the ultimate goal to save energy and reduce the state's need to create more power plants. The code is maintained and updated by the California Energy Commission (CEC). "The success of standards and other energy efficiency efforts is a significant factor in California's per capita electricity use remaining flat over the last 40 years while the rest of the country's use continues to rise.1"

Part of the code which relates HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) involves a HERS raters (Home Energy Rating System) who audit HVAC contractors' installations for the purposes of ensuring quality installation and energy efficiency. Energy Cloud has built HERS Registries for the purposes of processing the Title 24 HERS requirements. The HERS related forms and compliance can be complex and daunting for contractors. Energy Cloud has made the process as easy as possible for the contractors and raters helping them be in compliance and furthering the State's compliance goals.
