BTU Meters measure the energy of hydronic or liquid based systems that use liquid heat-transfer medium in heating and cooling systems. The heating or cooling load is transferred by circulating water or other liquid suitable for transferring energy. The measurement is done in BTU's (British Thermal Units), a basic unit of thermal energy. BTU meters are used both for understanding a systems performance as well as for billing.
The meter works by measuring both the flow of the liquid as well as temperature differentials. Energy Cloud has both inline meters from 1/2" to 2" pipe sizes or strap-on models that can be attached to existing piping for larger applications.
